Review

After reading Vicious not too long ago, I knew I wanted to read Vengeful soon. If you enjoyed reading Vicious, you’ll likely have similar feelings about the sequel!

Just like the first book, Vengeful has fast-paced chapters that are difficult to put down. While my edition of the book was nearly 600 pages, I read this book in only a matter of days. The way that the chapters leave off always held my interest and made it hard to stop at each chapter’s end.

Vengeful introduces some new characters as well, and while I was hesitant about this at first, the new characters grew on me. This ended up being the case so much that I became less interested in the original characters. This was a change from being equally invested in all of the characters from Vicious, but I liked the new characters’ stories nonetheless.

While reading this book, I realized this is not a duology, but a trilogy – the next book was announced last year. While I wanted a little bit more from the ending, I do think it would actually work well as a duology. But with the trilogy in mind, I thought this was a great second installment that doesn’t suffer from second-book syndrome. That being said, I’m definitely looking forward to reading the final installment in the series.

All in all, Vengeful was an addicting continuation to the Villians trilogy. I’d recommend this book if you enjoyed Vicious as the writing is very consistent compared to the first book. I can’t wait to see what the final book brings!
